SN Three Spindle Pump Overview

The SN series is a three spindle screw pump for lubricating media: lubricating oil, fuel oil, heavy diesel oil, non-corrosive mineral oil, viscous liquids and other lubricating liquid media, including various synthetic rubber liquids. The published envelope is a flow of up to 318 m³/h with a head of up to 4.0 MPa and a viscosity band of 3–3750 cSt.

Three spindles enclose the liquid in cavities that travel axially, so the pump delivers a stable output without pulsation and handles viscous media that a centrifugal pump could not move economically. The published characteristics are a small and light body, low vibration, low noise, self-priming ability, stable output and a compact structure.

Because the design is self-priming and tolerant of high viscosity, the manufacturer publishes it as the ideal choice for transporting lubricating oil, fuel oil, heavy diesel oil and a variety of synthetic rubber liquids. The wide viscosity band makes the series suitable for both light oils and very viscous lubricating liquids within the same model family.

The size designations above are as published by the manufacturer; the flow, pressure and viscosity columns are the published series envelope, because the manufacturer issues the performance of each size as a curve set across the 3–3750 cSt viscosity band rather than as single figures. Send the duty point together with the medium viscosity for the exact size, flow and shaft power.

Typical Applications of the SN Pump
  • Lubricating oil circuits: Transfers and circulates lubricating oil in machinery and plant systems.
  • Fuel oil handling: Moves fuel oil and heavy diesel oil between storage, transfer and burner systems.
  • Mineral oil transfer: Handles non-corrosive mineral oils and viscous liquid media in industrial plants.
  • Synthetic rubber liquids: Pumps a variety of synthetic rubber liquids and similar viscous products.
  • Petroleum and gas plants: Serves transfer, circulation and mixing duties on clean lubricating liquids.
  • Marine and heavy industry: Handles lubricating and fuel oil transfer where a compact, low-vibration pump is required.
  • Chemical plants: Moves clean, lubricating, low to high viscosity liquids such as additives and resins.
SN Screw Pump Selection Notes
  1. Check the working viscosity first: the published band is 3–3750 cSt, which is much wider than a typical triple screw pump range and determines the size selection.
  2. Confirm the duty point sits inside the published envelope of up to 318 m³/h and 4.0 MPa, and ask for the size performance curve at the actual viscosity.
  3. Take advantage of the published self-priming ability when the pump has to draw viscous liquid from below the suction connection.
  4. Confirm the medium is lubricating and non-corrosive; the series is published for lubricating oils and similar liquids.
  5. Ask for the contact-part material that matches the medium, because different materials are published for different media and working conditions.
  6. Use the low-vibration and low-noise characteristics when the pump is installed close to working areas or on board a vessel.
FAQ

What media can the SN three spindle screw pump handle?

Lubricating oil, fuel oil, heavy diesel oil, non-corrosive mineral oil, viscous liquids and other lubricating media including a variety of synthetic rubber liquids.

What is the working range of the SN series?

The published envelope is up to 318 m³/h of flow, up to 4.0 MPa of head and a viscosity from 3 to 3750 cSt.

Why choose a three spindle screw pump for lubricating oil?

The three spindles move the liquid continuously along the axis, so the output is stable and pulse-free, the pump is self-priming and it handles viscous lubricating liquids that centrifugal pumps cannot move efficiently.

Which published sizes are available?

The sizes published by the manufacturer include 40-38, 40-46, 40-54, 80-42 and 80-46; the flow and shaft power of each size are published as curves across the viscosity band and are confirmed against the duty point.

What is the flow and pressure range of the SN three spindle screw pump?

The published range is up to 318 m³/h of flow and up to 4.0 MPa of head.

What viscosity can the SN pump handle?

The published viscosity range is 3–3750 cSt, which covers light oils as well as very viscous lubricating media.

What liquids is the SN pump designed for?

Lubricating oil, fuel oil, heavy diesel oil, non-corrosive mineral oil, viscous liquids and synthetic rubber liquids.

Is the SN pump self-priming?

Yes. Self-priming ability is published for the series, together with a small and light body, low vibration, low noise, stable output and a compact structure.

Which size designations are published for the SN series?

The published sizes include 40-38, 40-46, 40-54, 80-42 and 80-46; exact flow and shaft power figures are issued as performance curves at the working viscosity.
