2BV5 Series Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump

The 2BV5 series is the higher-capacity part of the 2BV liquid ring vacuum pump family, built for continuous industrial suction duty. The published range covers 165–500 m³/h of maximum pumping speed with motors from 4 to 15 kW at 970–1460 r/min.

Like the rest of the family, the pump works on the liquid ring principle, so it compresses gas almost isothermally and can pull the suction pressure down to 33 mbar, published as a vacuum degree of 97 %. The flexible exhaust port prevents over-compression of the gas and so limits the power absorbed when the pump runs below its maximum capacity.

Each size is published in two builds: IP54 for standard installations and IP55 for heavier duty, with the IP55 build noticeably heavier because of the motor construction. Typical duties are chemical vacuum distillation, pharmaceutical processing, power-plant condenser service and other heavy-duty vacuum tasks.

• Pharmaceutical processing: Serves vacuum duty in pharmaceutical production and drying.
• Power plant condenser service: Extracts air and non-condensable gas from condenser circuits in power stations.
• Sugar and food dehydration: Provides high-capacity vacuum for evaporation and dehydration in food and sugar plants.
• Electronics and machinery: Supplies process vacuum where a high pumping speed is needed continuously.
• Environmental protection: Handles vacuum extraction duty in effluent and gas-treatment systems.
• Heavy-duty vacuum: Covers continuous high-capacity suction tasks where a compact pump would be oversized.

1. Start from the suction capacity required at the working pressure. The 2BV5 range is published from 165 m³/h on 2BV5 110 to 500 m³/h on 2BV5 161, and capacity falls as the suction pressure approaches 33 mbar.
2. Check the service-liquid flow against the plant supply: consumption rises from 6.7 L/min on the smallest size to 20 L/min on 2BV5 161.
3. Choose IP54 or IP55 from the environment rather than the hydraulics; both builds deliver the same duty and differ mainly in weight and motor enclosure.
4. Check the available floor area against the weight of the selected build, which ranges from 103 kg to 446 kg in the published table.
5. Note the noise level of the larger sizes, published at 73–74 dB for 2BV5 131 and 161, when the pump is installed in an occupied area.
6. If the process handles a flammable or explosive gas, confirm the motor and enclosure selection with the process area classification before ordering.
