The 2BV5 series is the higher-capacity part of the 2BV liquid ring vacuum pump family, built for continuous industrial suction duty. The published range covers 165–500 m³/h of maximum pumping speed with motors from 4 to 15 kW at 970–1460 r/min.
Like the rest of the family, the pump works on the liquid ring principle, so it compresses gas almost isothermally and can pull the suction pressure down to 33 mbar, published as a vacuum degree of 97 %. The flexible exhaust port prevents over-compression of the gas and so limits the power absorbed when the pump runs below its maximum capacity.
Each size is published in two builds: IP54 for standard installations and IP55 for heavier duty, with the IP55 build noticeably heavier because of the motor construction. Typical duties are chemical vacuum distillation, pharmaceutical processing, power-plant condenser service and other heavy-duty vacuum tasks.
